Pensions

We offer specialist advice on pension schemes and pension law.  This area of law is highly specialised and complex.  Trevor Clarke, who advises in this field for us, has over 25 years of experience. Trevor is a Solicitor and a Chartered Insurance Practitioner and in 1984 was a Founder Member of the Association of Pension Lawyers.

Since 1986 he has been recognised by the  Inland Revenue as an approved  Pensioneer Trustee which until 2006 was a special type of trustee required to be appointed to SSASs ( see below) to obtain and maintain tax approval of such pension schemes.

Trevor (and his team of two assistants) advise:

Employers

  • Trustees (including independent trustees appointed in insolvency situations)
  • Members and other beneficiaries
  • Investors, investment advisers, fund managers and Independent Financial  Advisers ( “IFAs”)
  • Insolvency practitioners
  • Actuaries  & Accountants
  • Law firms which require a specialist outsourced pension law service.

We can provide advice to or in respect of all sizes of final salary and money purchase pension schemes including small self-administered pension schemes (“SSAS”)  which are often well suited to those with owner managed businesses but which have complicated tax rules.

As well as occupational schemes we can advise and assist in relation to personal pension schemes including Self Invested Personal Pension Schemes  (“SIPPS”)  and other arrangements.
